State-owned Indian corporation Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and private-sector firm Wipro 3D - a subsidiary of the Bangalore-based digital and electronics group Wipro – have signed an agreement to collaborate on 3D printing projects for the Indian Armed Forces.

Under the memorandum of understanding (MOU), which was signed on 2 January, the two companies intend to jointly design, develop, test, produce, and repair aerospace components using metal-additive technologies.

According to a joint statement, the agreement will enable HAL and Wipro 3D to “develop, prove, and apply new materials in the production of aerospace applications including maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO)”.
