Boeing inaugurated on 1 November a research and technology centre in South Korea aimed at strengthening alliances with local aerospace and defence companies.
According to the company, the new Boeing Korea Engineering and Technology Centre (BKETC) is focused on "accelerating strategic technologies including autonomy, artificial intelligence, avionics, mobility platforms, smart cabin, and smart factory technology".
Boeing said the BKETC - the corporation's 12th global research centre - is located in Seoul and will be geared towards developing skilled personnel and supporting local technology capabilities.
The new facility is also supported by a memorandum of understanding between Boeing and the Korea Evaluation Institute of Industrial Technology (KEIT) - a government agency - to explore opportunities for expanded collaboration between Boeing and local industry.
