Russian troops have received more than 2,300 new and upgraded weapon systems since the beginning of the year, Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu told a teleconference on 8 October.
"This year's rearmament has seen the allocation of over RUB1.5 trillion [USD23.18 billion], with over 70% of these funds spent on the acquisition of serial-produced modern hardware," said Shoigu, adding that 47% of the main weapon acquisition and modernisation plan had been implemented. "Deliveries of high-technology weapons have increased by 6.7% compared to last year. The proportion of modern systems in service will reach 68% by the end of the year," he added.
