French state-controlled shipbuilder Naval Group announced the formation of a new Australian subsidiary on 8 October.

The new company, named Naval Group Pacific, will oversee the group’s activities across all of Australasia from a new site in Sydney.

The business will aim to promote Naval Group’s offerings in Australia and New Zealand outside of its existing Australian Future Submarine activities, which are managed by Naval Group Australia in Adelaide.

In a statement released alongside the announcement, Hervé Guillou, Chairman and CEO of Naval Group said, “Our commitment to Australia is founded in the Future Submarine Program; however, it is important that we continue to build on this.
