MiL Moscow Helicopter Plant and Kamov Design Bureau are to be merged under the name ‘National Centre for Helicopter Engineering’, according to reports from Russian state news agency TASS published on 11 October.

The decision, made by the board of directors of parent company Russian Helicopters, will see the companies rebranded in 2020 and the merger completed before the end of 2022. Although the process will result in the two business units operating as one legal entity, Russian Helicopters will retain the ‘Mi’ and ‘Ka’ designations used by their respective aircraft, and the design centres of both families of helicopter will remain independent of one another.
