On 8 August an explosion occurred on or near what was reportedly an offshore platform not far from the Russian village of Nenoksa in Arkhangelsk Oblast, killing five specialists from Rosatom, Russia’s state nuclear energy agency, and injuring three others.

The accident likely happened off the coastal village of Sopka, just south of Nenoksa, where the 45th Central State Testing Range of the Naval Fleet ‘Nenoksa’ is based.
