Construction of a permanent garrison for the 150th Motor Rifle Division near Rostov-on-Don in southern Russia is to be completed by the end of the year in order to allow its final regiment to be established.
The unit was one of three Russian division-sized formations set up near Ukraine’s eastern border in January 2016, but since then its troops have had to live and operate from tents and prefabricated shelters while permanent facilities were constructed.
“With the manning of the motor rifle regiment by the end of this year, the deployment of the motor rifle division within the Southern Military District's 8th Combined Arms Army will be completed,” the TASS news agency reported the district’s press office as having announced on 8 August.
