Egypt has expressed interest in an export version of Russia’s Project 21631 Buyan-M missile corvette, according to Alexander Karpov, director of Zelenodolsk Shipyard, which is building the type for the Russian Navy.

The Buyan-M can be armed with Kalibr cruise missiles and Oniks/Yakhont anti-ship missiles.

In an interview published by RIA Novosti on 8 July, Karpov refuted reports that Algeria has ordered four Project 22160 large patrol ships. “Negotiations were held between the parties about the possibility of implementing this project but so far the question has not been completely resolved,” he said.
