Cubic Mission Solutions has been awarded a delivery order from the US Air Force (USAF) to develop and demonstrate a Small Form Factor (SFF) Radio prototype for the Data Link Enterprise (DLE), the company announced on 10 June in a press release.

The system comprises one air and one ground component to provide air-to-ground and ground-to-air real-time communications.

The company is expected to deliver USAF a lightweight, airborne, and ground radio system delivering SFF capability in a compact tactical radio prototype.

According to the notice, in addition to a number of standard waveforms, the system will need to demonstrate an internally developed, protected waveform known as ‘Boomslang’.
