The Export Finance and Insurance Corporation (Efic) – the Australian government’s export credit agency – is increasing efforts to support international sales of Australian defence equipment, a paper published by the country’s audit office has said.
The Australian National Audit Office (ANAO) said in a report published on 6 June that Efic is undertaking a campaign to raise awareness of the financial support services available to defence exporters and is also seeking to support defence export opportunities through discussions with governments and stakeholders.
The ANAO report looked into the effectiveness of Efic in supporting Australian defence exports since a ‘Defence Export Facility’ managed by the agency was established by the Australian government in January 2018 as part of a wider package of measures under the country’s Defence Export Strategy.
