Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has revealed a new variant of its Heron unmanned aircraft system (UAS) for the tactical end of the market.
Announced on 4 June ahead of the 2019 Paris Air Show, the T-Heron is the latest addition to the family of Heron (Machatz) UASs that comprises the Heron 1, the Heron TP, the Heron TP-XP, and the Super Heron.
IAI noted that the T-Heron is powered by a Rotax engine, giving it a maximum speed of 120 kt and service ceiling of 24,000 ft while carrying a maximum payload of 180 kg. This compares with 125 kt and 30,000 ft for the baseline Heron 1, making the T-Heron the de facto entry-level platform for the Heron family of medium-altitude long-endurance (MALE) UASs.
