Surface ships of Brazil and France undertook a week-long joint exercise (PASSEX) off the coast of Brazil in an area between the cities of Rio de Janeiro and Vitória between 6 and 10 May with the aim to increase bilateral training ties in several naval domains, the Brazilian Navy told Jane’s .

It is the first PASSEX for the recently commissioned Brazilian multipurpose helicopter carrier PHM Atlantico (A140).

France participated with PHA Tonnerre (L9014) amphibious helicopter carrier accommodating aircraft, landing boats, and 150 troops from French Army’s 21st Marine Infantry Regiment and 1st Foreign Engineer Regiment – both from the 6th Light Armoured Brigade.
