The UK’s Department for International Trade (DIT) will emphasise the transfer of intellectual property (IP) in future defence exports, according to the director of the Defence and Security Organisation (DSO), Mark Goldsack.
The emphasis on the transfer of IP is just one element of the strategy, which also focuses on making flexible offers to overseas customers, that has been put in place by Goldsack.
“It is clear that the days of just exporting equipment have long gone. UK government and industry have to understand that countries aspire to indigenous capability, which means often sharing IP and enabling local manufacture and support,” Goldsack explained in an interview with Jane’s .
