Unmanned aerial vehicle manufacturers AeroVironment and Kratos have entered into a strategic agreement to develop concepts for unmanned teaming in contested environments.

An initial project will involve the two companies demonstrating the launch and operation of the Switchblade tube-launched loitering unmanned aircraft that is developed by AeroVironment deployed from the Kratos Mako runway-independent rail-launched UAV.

Through this, the companies will evaluate the co-ordination of the operation of the smaller system, the ability for it to relay information back to the larger aircraft, as well as the passing of information back to a ground control station or use of the data to inform changes to taskings.
