Nero Industries has signed a contract to supply the Ukrainian government with 90 of its Umay soft-kill active protection systems, the Turkish company announced during the 14th IDEF exhibition held in Istanbul between 30 April and 3 May.
The Umay system uses laser warning receivers that can operate across either a 180° arc, or through 360°. It is designed to detect laser irradiation of the host vehicle and deploy obscurant smoke so that the vehicle can relocate before it is engaged.
This is not the first contract between Nero Industries and Ukraine as previous orders for smoke grenade systems have been placed.
