MBDA Deutschland is expected to finalise the development of a dedicated assembly line for the Enforcer weapon system at its headquarters facility in Schrobenhausen, southern Germany, later this year.

Enforcer – a German-led multinational MBDA development programme – is currently a candidate for the Bundeswehr ‘Leichtes Wirkmittel 1800+’ requirement: a lightweight disposable day/night precision-guided shoulder-launched weapon system with an effective range of more than 1,800 m.

Launched in October 2018, Leichtes Wirkmittel 1800+ provides for the acquisition of 3,100 munitions for the Bundeswehr Special Forces Command (Kommando Spezialkräfte – KSK) with an in-service capability by 2022. Eurospike – a joint venture between Diehl Defence GmbH, Rheinmetall Electronics GmbH, and Rafael Advanced Defense Systems – is also competing for the requirement with the Spike SR weapon system.
