- DARPA will announce its Launch Challenge prize competition competitors in March
- The DLC is a key Pentagon initiative to test industry's small-launch rapid response capabilities
The US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) expects to announce in early March the industry competitors that qualified for its Launch Challenge (DLC).
DARPA said on 9 January that these companies will have cleared a three-step qualification process. The three-steps are pre-qualification, DARPA application and qualification, and receiving a "complete enough" designation from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). DARPA said this means an application contains substantive responses to all of the relevant regulations.
