Israel's Elbit Systems announced on 3 December that it was awarded a USD112 million contract to provide what it described as "advanced airborne intelligence systems" to a country in the Asia-Pacific region.

The company, which did not provide further details about the systems or the customer, said in a statement that the contract will be performed over a six-year period.

Elbit Systems President and CEO Bezhalel Machlis was quoted in the statement as saying that the contract is aimed at supplying "an intelligence solution that addresses both current and future battlefield requirements".
